What to do when you lose your mobile phone?
A mobile phone is an integral part of our lives. It is difficult to think of a time when there were no mobile phones. One of the primary functions of a mobile phone is to keep you connected with the world around you. Therefore, when you lose a mobile phone, it becomes extremely difficult to manage and either you try to find your lost phone and if not, you are forced to purchase a new one. Let’s read through and understand how you can recover a lost mobile phone.
1. Call or message your mobile number immediately
If you lose your cell phone then try calling your number or messaging from another phone. If someone picks up your phone, then you are lucky and you will get your phone back soon. If your phone is locked, then the finder will have to wait for you to call your phone so that he/she can return it to you.
2. Lock your phone
All phones have sensitive information. Therefore, you wouldn’t want your phone to fall into the wrong hands. However, you will never know who will find your phone, so, use the android device manager or find my iPhone and lock your phone remotely, if incase your phone isn’t already locked.
3. Lock your SIM
All smart phones now have the feature to lock the SIM card. You can use your phone to lock the SIM so that the finder of your phone is unable to make any call that you wouldn’t want him to. Both prepaid and postpaid SIM can be locked. So, get a prepaid or postpaid connection.
4. Locate your phone via GPS
Keep the location of your phone on at all times, so that you can locate your cell phone via the GPS tracker from another device.
5. Report your phone stolen or lost
As soon as you find out that your phone is missing lodge a complaint at the nearest police station. This option may be too far-fetched, but there have instances where lost phones have been retrieved.
